Title
Guttman, Ida (Frank). Diary, 1883
-
Institution
Vassar College
-
Description
A very detailed daily account of Ida Frank's first semester at Vassar. She must have entered the college as a Preparatory Student, because he was a member of the Exoteric Society, which was a social club specifically for the Preps. She remarked early in the book that she was disappointed in the diary because it contained mostly facts without comment. Still, the volume does give a clear picture of the daily routine of a Vassar student at that time. Frank was Jewish, but she didn't mention her faith or any response to it, except to note that she fasted for Yom Kippur and went to temple while in New York City for winter vacation.
