Description
Eleanor Stabler Brooks was a member of the Radcliffe College Class of 1914. These letters from Brooks to her parents describe her coursework, including working in the chemistry and zoology laboratories, as well as final exams. She writes about a May Day party and Harvard Class Day, and a mock political rally and straw poll for president of the United States. In addition, Brooks describes basketball games, purchasing clothing, and a being hired to teach guitar to a 12 year old boy. She also mentions numerous outings with Charles Franklin Brooks, who became her fiancé later that year. Included here is a letter from Brooks to her grandmother on her recent engagement and happiness with Charlie (October 10, 1912).
