Description
Cornelia James Cannon was a member of the Radcliffe College Class of 1899. These letters home to her family describe her first days a Radcliffe, including her anxieties about finding suitable housing, welcome exercises, and coursework and professors. She also mentions being offered a post as a chemistry laboratory assistant. In addition, she talks about friendships with other students and alternates between expressing her enjoyment of college life and school work and her longing for home. Cannon describes attending concerts and plays, Harvard football games, teas with Harvard boys, and an Idler Club reception. She also describes her friendship with Walter Cannon, as well as visits with local family members.
